Can-Am: Riding Beyond Boundaries

Can-Am, a subsidiary of the renowned Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), is a Canadian manufacturer of ATVs (All-Terrain Vehicles) and side-by-side vehicles. These machines are designed for riders of all skill levels and ages. From high-performance motorbikes to trail-blazing ATVs, Can-Am's innovative products, world-class manufacturing facilities, and vast distribution network have made it a household name in the off-road vehicle industry.

The Story So Far

Can-Am was created in 1972, with its roots dating back to Bombardier Inc., founded in 1942 by Joseph-Armand Bombardier. Originally known for manufacturing snowmobiles, the company expanded into the ATV market in 1998 with the introduction of the Traxter, a utility-based ATV that was awarded the "ATV of the Year" by ATV Magazine in 1999.

BRP continues to revolutionize the ATV market with notable models like the BRP Traxter XL, the first 4x4 all-terrain vehicle to feature a dumping box-bed. Further enhancements led to the Traxter MAX in 2002, the first manufacturer-approved ATV designed to accommodate two riders. The ATV segment of BRP was rebranded as Can-Am in 2006, symbolizing a fresh, exciting phase for the company.

Expanding Horizons

Can-Am made significant strides in the Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicle market with the introduction of the Can-Am Commander in 2010. This was followed by the launch of the sport-focused Can-Am Maverick in 2013, which featured the highest horsepower from a manufacturer at the time.

In 2014, the company introduced the industry's first side-by-side vehicle with a turbo straight from the manufacturer, the Can-Am Maverick X ds Turbo. This high-powered vehicle quickly became the industry's benchmark for horsepower in the side-by-side vehicle segment.

Further diversifying its product line, Can-Am launched the Defender in 2016, its first utility side-by-side vehicle created specifically for farmers and hunters. This versatile vehicle, designed with BRP's Rotax engine technology, offers both power and torque, making it an excellent choice for all types of outdoor activities.

The Line-Up

Can-Am offers an extensive line-up of ATVs and Side-by-Side vehicles, including the Maverick, Commander, and Defender models for Side-by-Side, and Outlander, Renegade, and DS models for ATVs. These vehicles are designed for a variety of uses, from outdoor work to extreme off-road sports.

The Can-Am Community

Beyond its world-class products, Can-Am is also known for its community programs like International Female Ride Day, the Women of On-Road program, and the Responsible Rider Program. These initiatives aim to promote safety, inclusivity, and environmental consciousness among riders.

Track Record

Can-Am vehicles are not just about fun and utility; they are also about performance. The company's vehicles have excelled in prestigious racing events like the Dakar Rally and the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) championships. These victories are a testament to the performance, reliability, and ruggedness of Can-Am vehicles.

Whether you're a thrill-seeker looking for an adrenaline rush, an outdoor worker in need of a reliable partner, or a racer eyeing the next big win, Can-Am offers the right vehicle to fulfill your off-road aspirations.
